We are a church built on the power of prayer, the presence of God, and the belief that the best is yet to come.
How it grew
From a lounge to a growing church family, in the space of a few seasons.

Where it began
Our first service, at home. A few chairs, a keyboard, communion on the table and a room full of expectation.

2023
A living room and four people
Calvary Church Johannesburg was born in 2023 in the living room of our pastor, with just four people gathered together in worship and prayer.
There was no stage, no band and no building. Only a simple desire to make room for God. We prayed, we worshipped, and we opened our home to anyone who wanted to belong.
Week after week, that small circle became a place where people could be themselves and meet with Jesus.

Growing together
Outgrowing the room
What started small grew quickly as God began to move in powerful ways. The four became eight, and the eight became twelve, until the lounge could no longer hold us.
We found a building in Edenvale and opened our doors with about 20 people. Ministries and leaders were raised up, friendships deepened, and within a year the church had grown to around 100 people.
It was never about numbers. It was about a family forming around prayer, worship and the presence of God.

A new address
Room for more
Before long, the Edenvale building was too small for what God was doing. We began to look for bigger premises, and that search brought us to where we gather today.
At 91 Main Road in Solheim, Johannesburg, we now meet every Sunday at 9AM. The doors are open to everyone, and the welcome is the same one we offered in that living room: come as you are.

Today
Stepping into a new season
We are thrilled to be stepping into a new season, building a home where even more people can encounter Jesus, find family and discover their purpose.
As Jesus builds His church, we are growing in ministries, leaders and teams, and trusting that the best is yet to come.
